The G3X and G3X Touch are integrated flight display systems developed by Garmin for use in experimental and light sport aircraft. These systems provide advanced avionics features to help pilots navigate, communicate, and monitor the aircraft’s systems. Here’s an overview of both systems:
- G3X:
- The G3X is a non-touchscreen avionics display system. It offers a combination of Primary Flight Display (PFD) and Multifunction Display (MFD) functions.
- The G3X provides essential flight information, such as attitude, airspeed, altitude, heading, and vertical speed on the PFD.
- The MFD can display navigation data, engine information, traffic, weather, and more.
- It’s often used in experimental and light sport aircraft to provide situational awareness and navigation capabilities.
- G3X Touch:
- The G3X Touch, as the name implies, features a touchscreen interface that makes it more user-friendly and intuitive.
- It offers all the functions of the G3X but with the added benefit of a touchscreen, which simplifies navigation through various menus and settings.
- The G3X Touch allows for split-screen functionality, so you can view multiple information panels simultaneously, enhancing situational awareness.
- It can integrate with various other avionics and sensors, including autopilots, ADS-B, and synthetic vision systems.
Both the G3X and G3X Touch are known for their high-resolution displays, reliability, and compatibility with a range of sensors and avionics. They can be configured to suit the specific needs and preferences of the aircraft owner or builder. These systems are popular in the experimental and homebuilt aircraft community, offering advanced avionics capabilities that were once only available in certified aircraft.
This manual provides all of the mechanical and electrical information required for the installation of the G3X system. This manual is intended to be a step-by-step guide to the installation, therefore it is important that the steps in all sections be performed in order. All materials that are required/optional for the installation of the G3X are listed in this section (as such, some of the information in this section is repeated in following sections).
Before beginning the G3X installation, it is recommended that the installer perform a complete inventory of all materials listed in this section (some materials are optional and may not be applicable to the installation). Section 1 should be used to verify that all components ordered from Garmin have been delivered correctly, and to identify any required materials that are not provided by Garmin.
